Amazon Finds for Spanish Learners

When I find a book that helps me pronounce words or phrases, and again uses that magic repetitiveness, I grab them. Keep in mind that if you are an adult children’s books are a GREAT tool for you to use too! Don’t feel you need to go out and spend money on an expensive program – use these options and check out your local library for help too.

Also, if you want some FREE books to print on cardstock at home, check out my Printables Page.

Here are a few books that I think are easy to understand. Click on the picture and a separate window will open for you to see it on Amazon.

World Languages Series

I like these books because they are simple to read, have great, clean pictures, and tell you how to pronounce each word in the back. For someone who doesn’t know any Spanish, that is a HUGE help!

I also borrowed this one from our local library and will probably purchase it from Amazon. This book tells a story of two children, a brother and a sister that gather different colored items needed to make a tent outside, sing a song, and take a nap.

For body parts, times of day and other activities I found this beauty:

The only thing I DID add was the question “Where is your…?/Donde esta tu…?” and “Where are your…?/Donde estan tus…?” because it wasn’t in the book. That way I can ask my children where a certain part of the body is and they can show me. And yes, I wrote in the book, inwardly cringing as I did so.

If you are an Eric Carle fan, he also has some great Spanish and bilingual books. Some are all Spanish and others have English and Spanish. I try to stay away from books that have long sentences with a lot of words I don’t understand (for now).

These two are simple enough and have slides that the babies like to play with:

I always have a difficult time finding them on Amazon – I end up searching, so clicking on the picture to get to it might be helpful.

Rebecca Emberley Bilingual Books

Here are some board books for very little ones. I like them because they are simple and have clean pictures.

I purchased this book through a consignment sale and LOVE it. It says “Te amo” repeatedly and simply changes the noun to which it is referring.

Ten Little Toes, Two Small Feet is one of our favs. We get it from the library ALL THE TIME. I’m still learning how to pronounce some of the words, but the more I read it (by myself or to my littles) the more I learn. The author has another about hands, but so far there isn’t a bilingual edition out that I can find.
