Here is a quick tutorial on how to assemble my “lift-the-flap” books. Click here to go to the page where all my books are available for a FREE download.
NOTE: When you print this book – PRINT PAGES 1-10 DOUBLE SIDED AND PAGES 11-18 SINGLE SIDED. You will be cutting the last pages for the “lift-the-flap” effect!
Let’s assemble iVamos a Limpar!
Gather your book making materials:
- printed book and printed pages for the flaps
- straight edge
- glue or clear tape (packing tape works great)
- duct tape
- scissors or a paper trimmer
You can do this one of two ways: tape the flaps or glue them. I have found after doing several of these that I prefer packing tape. It creates nice movement and it’s way faster than glue (Who has time to wait for glue to dry anyway?)
Begin by cutting out your flaps. I provided lines on where to cut each one and an arrow showing approximately where to fold if you are gluing or cut if you are taping. Using a paper trimmer is definitely helpful in this step!

Next, use your straight edge to fold your flaps (if gluing).

Align your flap over the corresponding picture. Tape or glue.

When gluing, I found it helpful to let it dry sticking straight up in the air to prevent the flap from being glued down too far.

After you have secured each flap for each page, use your straight edge to give yourself a section for the binding. Click here to see how I bound these books together.
You can always seal these with some self laminating sheets to keep the pictures from getting destroyed in case of an encounter with wet things (water, slobber, drool, snot, tears… you get the idea.)
I hope you enjoy this lift-the-flap book as much I as I had fun making it! I can’ t want to make another one!
Adiós!
