My Printables

While trying to teach my littles, I have a difficult time finding conversational Spanish books. Sure, there are great books for learning shapes, colors, animals, etc. but nothing that really told me how to speak to someone else and how to answer them appropriately.

So, what does a good teacher do? I make my own, of course.

Here you can find my ongoing collection. I will post pictures and links as best as I can. But, since I am learning too, please give me some grace. If you see a mistake, PLEASE comment or send me a quick email. (I’m that person that loves to find typos in other people’s stuff!)

For all of these downloads, it’s a good idea to print them on card stock and cover in these self seal laminating sheets. These protectors don’t need a machine – just carefully peel and stick!

A NOTE ABOUT PRINTING: Print all double sided and I always select the “fit to page” option. It makes the pictures fit on the page better!

Better yet – go to a printing sight like Office Depot and get them printed. It doesn’t cost a ton, the colors are always amazing (and you get to save your ink at home for emergencies!) and they can even bind it for you for a few extra dollars.

How to put these books together…

This isn’t rocket science (or I wouldn’t have figured it out!) and there are lots of ways to put a book together. But, here is a quick and easy method with a little bit of duct tape and some glue!

Let’s put together ¿Cómo estás? :

First, Print off any of my bilingual books from above! Remember – they are totally FREE!

Grab whatever you have handy to trim the ends – or you could keep them the existing length. Whichever you prefer. I found that trimming them at the 1 1/2″ mark worked well.

Find a straight edge – I used my handy ruler – and give them a bent edge. This is where we will glue them together.

Now, you have a handful of pages that have a nice crease. Let’s glue! (Yup, it’s this easy, folks.)

Keep in mind, this is just plain card stock. You could add a really nice cover or even fabric if you were feeling fancy. I found this blog about different kind of bindings when I was trying to figure out how I wanted to put this puppy together.

After you have glued, stack’em up. Be careful not to put too much glue or it will just ooze out everywhere.

Time for Duct Tape!

I have several colors sitting in my craft room for just such an occasion. I’m sure there are a gazillion ways to duct tape the edge of this, but here is how I went about it.

Rip off a piece longer than the book itself. Then, place one edge carefully along those lovely creases you just made.

Flip over and pull over and around to the back of the book on the long edge.

Next, seal all the way and wrap the short edges to the back of the book as well.

Measure a piece of duct tape and cut to the length and width of the back binding. Stick it on!

No problem.

Again, do this in any way that works for you. It’s just for you and your kiddos, no judgement here.

When you are finished, apply the self seal laminating sheets and you have a waterproof booklet!

iBien hecho! (Well done!)
